PRESIDIO — The Dude of the Dead music festival returns to Presidio this Halloween weekend. This year, the free music festival will take place behind the Presidio Trading Post and Cantina on Saturday, October 29.
The music lineup is a mix of familiar Dude of the Dead faces and new players, including Presidio’s own DJ Fully Maxxed and The Resonators, as well as Frontera Bugalu and Ave Penix.
This year’s festival includes the annual costume contest, as well as two new events: a scavenger hunt and a “disco Mexicano” cook-off. For a $20 entree fee, you can scavenge the town for a host of Presidio-centric or outer-space themed items. In the disco Mexicano cook-off, contestants will compete in a blind taste test, preparing their favorite dishes outside and on site on a propane-powered “disco Mexicano.” Entry fee for the contest is $40.
Entry fees for both contests will go toward cashes prizes.
Entrance to the music festival and camping on the festival grounds are free. The festival location is behind the Presidio Trading Post on FM 170 at the eastern edge of town.
Doors open at 4pm and the party is scheduled to go until 2am. For more information, visit dudeofthedead.net.
