Donald Trump’s push for a wall between the U.S. and Mexico is implausible, according to one House Republican from Texas.
“You can’t build a wall from sea to shining sea,” Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “It just doesn’t work.
“It’s the most expensive way to do border security, and it’s the least effective,” he added.
Trump has repeatedly vowed he would build a wall on America’s southern border blocking illegal immigrants from entering the U.S. through Mexico. He’s put illegal immigration and border security at the center of his campaign for the GOP presidential nomination.
The outspoken billionaire is currently leading the race for the GOP’s presidential nomination across multiple national polls.
Hurd argued on Tuesday that there is no single method for preventing illegal immigration across the nation’s borders.
“You can’t have a one-size-fits-all solution,” he said. “We need to allow the men and women in border patrol to adjust their tactics, techniques and procedures as they see fit.”
