A Man, A Motorcycle, Memories, His Dog, and Big Bend

A man who lost his mother and only child has gone on an endless journey with his dog.

Ara Gureghian, 67, has spent the last 10 years with Spirit, his pitbull, travelling across the U.S. on his motorbike and sidecar.

He’s charted his journey through some incredible images and in his online blog.

‘We have ridden about 300,000 miles mostly up and down the west/central USA following the cool weather in the summer and warmer weather in the winter.

Ara Gureghian, 67, from Naples, Florida, decided to embark on an epic journey with his faithful companion Spirit, a pitbull, following the passing of his mother and only child, Lance. Mr Gureghian and Spirit have since travelled parts of West and Central America on just his motocycle and sidecar, braving heavy storms and even snow. ìWe have ridden about 300,000 miles mostly up and down the west/central USA following the cool weather in the summer and warmer weather in the winter,î said Mr Gureghian, who is a professionally trained chef. ìI have always camped all my life and after my only Child Lance passed away, not able to cope with the every day life, having the motorcycle, sidecar and Spirit, there was nothing to lose while becoming a nomad. ìTurned out to be the therapy of our life as Spirit was also rescued and I started writing my own conversations into a Journal every morning.î Spirit, who wears full riding gear on his travels in the sidecar, was given a slice of luck on his first encounter with Mr Gureghian.
